Conflicts between Islamic and non-Islamic communities have mushroomed in recent years in spite of massive human and economic resources invested to prevent and mitigate them. This could seem surprising in a globalized world where means of communication of all kinds are readily available to bring together in real time people from around the world to share their concerns and explore suitable ways to bridge their differences. However, it seems that the unprecedented globalization instead of facilitating the dialog between dissenting parties, further deepens the gaps between people and accelerates the escalation of conflicts.

The objectives of I+tR are to identify untaped conflict management strategies and tools, to integrate them with those currently in use, and to open novel communication channels between the conflicting communities to reduce mutual misunderstandings that could hamper the resolution of conflicts and fuel their escalation.
